Candle Care

Here are some tips you can use to get the most out of your Sunday Soy candle:

The first burn: When lighting your candle for the first time, let the wax melt across the entire surface up to the sides of the vessel to prevent tunnelling, and to create an even burn for the duration of your candles' life. This will make your candle last longer (may take up to 2-4 hours).

Trim the wick: Each time you want to burn your candle, start by trimming the wick to 1/8 - 1/4 inches long, this will give you a cleaner, brighter burn. (You can use a wick trimmer, scissors or nail clippers). This also prevents mushrooming (when your wick starts curling) and controls the size of the flame allowing you to get the most time out of your candle.

Burn long enough: Let the wax melt all the way across. To avoid tunnelling and wasted wax on the edges, don't blow it out until the top layer of wax has melted all the way across.

Avoid drafts: A calm, centered flame distributes heat equally which leads to a clean and even burn; it eliminates excessive smoking, tunnelling and wasted wax around the inside edge of the candle. This also enhances the fragrance and extends the lifespan of your candle because it burns slower

How to extinguish a candle: Use a snuffer, or dip the wick into the melted wax and then straighten wick to prevent smoking and also prevent hot wax from splattering. Do not blow out.

Storing your candle: Always store your candles in a cool, dark and dry place. As well, try to avoid placing your candles where they will be directly exposed to sunlight or harsh indoor lighting, such as a spotlights.
